‘The stepwells of India have long been made desirable and romantic thanks to their prolific features in our favourite movies from the country. Upon visiting Jodhpur, I sought out the familiar attraction and noticed these three men at work taking a break from their labour. As one dropped crumbs from his lunch to the waiting fish in the pool below and another hammered lazily lumbered against the stone, they laughed upon their varied suspensions and took their time with their reparations.’
